Free Trial: What You Can Change and How It Ends

A free trial runs your protected service at no cost until its end date, and it keeps running after that only if a payment method is on file.

    How a trial starts

Trials are set up by our team rather than from the checkout. If you would like to try Sterile before you buy, open a ticket and tell us what you want to protect.

    Where to see your trial

Open Subscriptions in your workspace's billing. A service on a trial shows the date the trial ends and a reminder to add a payment method before then, or the service ends with the trial.

What you cannot change during a trial

The plan is fixed while the trial runs. The Update action is turned off, and the page says plan changes are available after your trial ends on that date.

If the trial plan turns out to be too small or too large, use Contact support on that notice and we can look at it with you.

Keep the service after the trial

Add a card under Payment methods before the end date. The subscription then carries on with the same plan, and its invoices appear under Invoices. Once the trial is over, you can change the plan from Subscriptions like any other subscription.

If the trial ends without a payment method

The subscription ends together with the trial. The service stops, its tunnel is removed and you get an email saying the service has ended. To protect the server again later, buy the service from Services and run the installer again, as described in GRE tunnel DDoS protection.
